Breeding the greed :/

The last thing you can call me is innocent , but it comes to politics – specially this lokpal bill ,I am as guilty of innocence as A Raja is of corruption. With this disclaimer I start this post. I don’t have any qualifications of writing about this , except the fact that I write decently , I am more literate than half my BPL population and I have a problem with the fact that none of the younger population (teens mostly) seem to be taking an interest and the whole public uproar about this bill.

this innocent =P

First of all , WHAT is a lokpal??
Simply speaking , lok means ‘protector of people’ .Which also means :

An ombudsman (conventional English plural: ombudsmen) is a person who acts as a trusted intermediary between an organization and some internal or external constituency while representing not only but mostly the broad scope of constituent interests

However , Anna Hazare’s is more of an organization which is used to check the power of the parliament AND judiciary.

The Jan Lokpal Bill (Citizen's ombudsman Bill) is a draft anti-corruption bill drawn up by prominent civil society activists seeking the appointment of a Jan Lokpal, an independent body that would investigate corruption cases, complete the investigation within a year and envisages trial in the case getting over in the next one year.”

Here’s the catch :”It also seeks power to the Jan Lokpal to prosecute politicians and bureaucrats without government permission”

Don’t form any opinions yet. Lets first see WHAT corruption is !
1. Dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery.
2. The action of making someone or something morally depraved or the state of being so

grr

. A 2005 study conducted by Transparency International in India found that more than 45% of Indians had first-hand experience of paying bribes or influence peddling to get jobs done in public offices successfully.[1]

So you would have got the gist by now , you know I am Semi – so I have my dilemmas. I would be very glad if people reading this try to solve my queries/doubts.

bye!
Lets see this from the common man’s point of view. The Government seemed to be very powerful when it won the elections for the 2nd consecutive time. Then like a night mare came the embarrassing Commonwealth debacle ( it wouldn’t have been half as bad if the media had closed its trap ) however the blame was put on a Suresh Kalmadi, then came the 2G scams. OMG! The centre has looked inefficient , corrupt and like a lame duck since then! A Raja , Dayanithi Maran , Kanimozhi ........the list is still expanding. The amount of crores hoaxed seriously took everyone by alarm. If only all this money had reached the people =|

Not only the top , even the basement of the Indian foundation is rocking. Minute things like obeying the traffic , discouraging piracy , buying a passport/license without bribing sounds incredulous! The most alarming thing is not the corruption itself but the complacency which it brought along....Blanketing people in false sense of legitimacy the corruption monster is seen as a saint. What can we do – even the saints are fake in our country.
So it was just a matter of time someone screamed ‘CHANGE’ . This part I agree with, heck! Everyone does. When standing from these pair of shoes the lokpal issue seems like a boon from the moon. To top it all a leader who looks like a mixture of Gandhi daddy and Nehru uncle , active facebook campaigning and the media’s eye. Surely a wining mixture , only the direction is wrong – we’ll come to that later.

After watching  Shankar films all my life =P Those like ‘Indian’ , ‘Anniyan’ and ‘Gentleman’ where a single crusader wins us justice , Anna looks very practical. Also this movement has ignited patriotism and brought up very encouraging changes in many ‘normal’ people. Very obvious example : My dad , the hidden hero has woken up. He has got the wake up call and the conviction which  envy , fasting for the past 3 days ( it IS a big thing , because of the size of his tummy! :D) , lighting candles, reading patriotic poems and more importantly the new found resolve to fight corruption from the most CRUCIAL level – from the SELF . His status tells us all :D

Also fought corruption today against police. went for passport verification for my family. the police official collects the form and gives a smile indicating that he needs money . I smiled back and said thank you and walked out and he comes behind me till the vehicle stand and I just had to smile back because he didnt ask for money but indicates he wants money!

We may never get that passport , but who cares?! We are on the right road .

Wait. There is also another story here. India has a parliament in place; its functions are to provide bills/laws to support the life of people. Corruption aside , there are earthquakes , floods, power demand , Inflation , the latest lorry strike ( ONION prices causes tears in your eyes without the need of opening the vegetable itself =P ) , education is still to reach many , basic welfare schemes , health care and HUGE amount of work the government has to do.
Ever since the 2 G scams the ministers conveniently have caused chaos , the parliament is NOT function. Now Anna’s fast has seen to that a lot more crores are being wasted by making the government NOT work. That ain’t commendable surely , right?
YES. We accept that the ministers are trying to hide behind the thin veils of the existing democracy to oppose anna’s movement . Although I don’t support their motive , is it right to blackmail the government or whoever by telling that they are going to fast till death?! I don’t even know why fasting is acceptable! ( maybe bcoz we don’t die that easily! ) Still , suicide or any other form of taking any human life must be considered wrong right??
So isn’t Anna planting seeds in millions of minds to play with death?! Pardon me if I am wrong.
Also the biggest question of all ; If Anna is suggesting that I should not believe in the government I voted (not me exactly) and proving that corruption is capable of destroying the finest minds how do I believe in HIM ? He is still outside power , money etc what if he comes to power and gets eaten up by the monster (touch wood)
'draconian' ?
There is a provision in lokpal bill which says the we can file a case against him through lokpal. However the point is that lokpal is just ANOTHER institution and the powers it is demanding from the government is too much even for an elected body.
So what I am saying is it IS a good idea to fight corruption ; even lokpal is FINE. However drastic demanding will lead us nowhere ; we are a DEMOCRACY ; accepted 42 years is too long but as the light has come to the problem now only a few more months with proper adjusting is not BAD at all or fine chuck it! Support the movement  but aim for something else than the bill like grassroot problems of corruption , using our divine constitution with some amendments itself. A new institution is too risky/costly.

1 thing is clear – the present state of the government is not supported by the members themselves! Lets strive for a cleaner country starting from ‘I’ and ones not interested can stifle their laughs and live their life – with the knowledge that change is the only thing permanent and surely after all these protests something GOOD will shape up! =)

Jai hind! Nothing beats screaming 'inquilab zindabad!' maybe vandemataram! :D

Total Tam-Brahmism

Compared to other countries India is very different in one area – the Family. These social structures are more complex, big and important in this country. However instead of looking at it with awe , the common Indian nowadays sees it as a extraneous distraction or responsibility . How many of the youth of today know to draw their family trees and connect with others ( with pride) ? How many of us have escaped from going for a marriage or any other ceremony just because it was ‘boring’? ie without our staple ‘friends’ . For once , I came outside that category .

the past
For starters , lets look how Families were treated in the past ages. Finally putting my subject ‘sociology’ into use I come to find that families were the fundamental units of a society and still mostly are in many parts of India. Everything was done not to support the ‘individual’ but the whole ‘family. That is how unselfish we were. Then the industrial revolution came about , the families who were before working together in their houses were forced to separate and join big factories where the 'individual' was put in the front  and had to specialize in his task to survive.  ( All this was written by me without looking at my book!! I am a genius! Lol )

The general perception is that Joint families , or atleast connections with some relations like your grandmother’s cousin’s grand daughter is not flourishing. It maybe true . However my sociology book which is keen to prove that common sense and sociology differs states that the life expectancy of the elder population has increased steadily from the time of independence  , ( quotes some stats) and that ‘obviously’ families that contains elders are joint ones and hence joint families are increasing. Sadly, what it doesn’t understand is that life expectancy depends more on health , PDS improvement than type of families people live in! (Although the latter maybe true in some psychopathic homes =P)  So what did that explanation prove? That the textbook was wrong and that I rock =P Also that joint family system is actually DECLINING.

It is a given now that many people living together in the same house is inexplicably impossible . I am not going to try and argue with that as rivaling relatives are more poisonous than  powerful pythons! xD So what this post focuses on is the more agreeable family functions which sees a whole varied no. of relatives come together. I can hear some saying ‘ STFU marriages should be conducted on our wish , standing by the smoke , using huge amounts of money for a get together is insane’ Insane or not marriages and functions are a great part of our culture and believe it or not they  are FUN!!

They may not come near vodka usurping parties with your friends ( chetan Bhagat style) but ironically they are awesome for anyone except the guy who invites all. ( As they have to stand near the smoke and lets say do all the meaningless poojas ; which are atleast meaningful to THEM) If you find yourself considering facebook as a remotely interesting friend finding challenge ; these social events are surely crazier , as you are supposed to be related with these ppl but as you hardly see them once or twice a year you obviously don’t know them . Now try to establish a rapport with all the prejudiced uneventful past meetings off your mind – you would end up telling me that you actually like them!

Becoming a little more specific , I went for my ‘cousin’s’ thread wearing ceremony today. The ceremony itself is considered as a ‘mini marriage’ by all adults and is prolonged for 2 days with the notion of making the boy more responsible and more ideal by making him the ‘proper Brahmin’ boy . LOL. Ironically , I have NEVER met this particular cousin as he had stayed in New Jersey all his life and had just come in for this . How is he exactly my ‘cousin’ , which I must say is a VERY broad word. He is my Grandparents’ cousin’s grandson!! =) I say ‘grandparents’ because both of them have the same person as cousins and are in facts cousins themselves!
( I can surely prepare for my verbal reasoning exam with this! =P )

It didn’t matter that I didn’t know him because he was busy doing his job on the stage with the smoke and his priests. Sadly not one chair was in his direction as people were busy trying to interact with themselves in circles. I almost knew everyone and their names somewhat , however most of their relations with me are still unclear . However what matters is that they treated me with affection , acknowledged our bond  and told that even though birth relations are in many degrees accidental  , are not always catastrophic and a complete waste of time.

People who made this change of heart in me :

My Godfather
His name is Raghava chithappa (uncle) but in fact is my fathers uncle i.e. my grandpa’s bro. What makes him so special is that he is one neurotic bundle of nervous energy and is from the old school of thoughts which is being forced to transform so late in its descent . In short he always worries that I don’t wear a bindi ( a dot on my forehead =| )  and that I don’t know how to sweep a room properly. Truth is he is too CLEAN , hence a perfectionist and a borderline OCD =P I love the fact that he worries about me and so make him worry so much more. Also I like old thathas  with wrinkled face and body! So I obviously adore him and his sarcasm. I bet that when he reads this he would mock my language , yeah OLD SCHOOL.

A BABY! <3
For decades now in cinema of any kind , a dramatic change of heart is brought about by a small innocent kid asking a question or just by being what it ( I mean he/she)  is , a baby! <3  Today saw its fair amount of children who were there because they love to bunk on a Thursday and who wanted some fun. Late in the day (=P ) this absolutely gorgeous kid of my dad’s direct cousin , named SRIPAD stole my heart. The absolutely naughty and adorable  look in the eyes , the soft demeanor which hides the adventurous boy inside , the hardly audible/comprehendible voice ( which is soo sweet <3 ) and the fact that he let everyone carry him made sripad the hero of the day and made me fall in louwe with families.

Btw a message to Nomi here =P I will pronounce ‘love’ as ‘louwe’ and I am NOT a pedophile just because I love babies!! =D

ALSO HIDDEN BENEATH ALL THIS IS THE INNOCUOUS FACT THAT THE ITALIAN MAFIA GIVES FAMILY THE NUMBER 1 PLACE. NEVER HELPS TO BE PREPARED B|

Friendship Matters

Someone to live for, care for , to create words for ( like goyakamoya)  , write a blog for and wait for – ever. Someone to beat , meddle , abuse , fight and love , care , occasionally hug , use magic words on  because you can DO it . Unveiling something that is always there and laid bare open – Friendship and introducing the homo sapien who can bear it – the FRIEND!

I don’t want be funny because I always am ; I want to grow tall because I am so short ; I want some alone time because I am so full of friends! All these three hypothesis have been researched on =P and have proved to have turned into disasters! Sometimes controlling nature is just not possible.....I am destined to be tormented by all the love from these lovely creatures! OK start hating me now , but I have research and scientific data to prove that you will patch up within  3 days because :

*I am soo funny
* I am semi
*I have the goofy face to melt your heart

So yeah , I push it to my limits to offend you guys! Yet I am faced with laughter ( mock ones) If it was someone else they would have gotten offended for being not taken seriously but not me – very broad minded in accepting whatever comes because I don’t give nothing.

By now you have got it that abstract writing has been used so that the real matter of individual praise is stalled. However explanation need example Friendship needs friends!
I will surely miss someone here ; whoever you are I have done it wontedly so that you can call me fight with me! =) Which is the kindest form of friendship I show! So be happy xD  Start taking notes to abuse me later.

Book 1 Shivani Puranam

My best friend is one who I truly hate ( no it is not hated it is hate) from the bottom of my stomach ( stomach not  heart!) Sadly the feeling wasn’t mutual and she liked* me very much ( that is what she says) and I found that the intense feeling was transformable to the opposite =)
I get mad if I don’t fight with her =( So I am GOING MAD right now! It is just sad that I get to speak with her so less . You can’t just start a fight in that time and her voice is so sadly adorable ....and I miss her singing ‘Manipaaya’ (‘Will you forgive me?’ haha! I have tones of EGO) and  crush by David archuleta =P ( although I crushed the paper where she wrote ‘crush <3’ )
Shivani....no Chinni , Anil , Lumbini all sound horrible =P Shivani......I miss you than you ever know and ever will know because I will never show it! I know you are also missing me...but obviously I miss you more =P

I actually louwe Deepika Padukone Soo Much!! .....You think I keep forgetting you well....to be truthful I never did. It was just that it was fun irritating you and seeing you get all pissed over me. It meant that you cared , that was all I cared.
I have been very evil to you however I gave you the first page of  my journal and the last page of my slam book so please forgive all the sins thy performed and .....please remain my ex wife forever =P
