Give up!
Trying to fight the great inevitability
of death, pain and loss.
Given in to the memories of yesterday
Crashing into your consciousness
Like waves on a no moon day
Luring you into the bottomless ocean
Why walk on water?
When you can sleep on the ocean floor
Squarepants and what not.
This came to me as a suicide note .. written in the depths of despair. So sad.

That seems the feelings of most people. It just seems insurmountable as death lurks and waiting who is next. It is an empty feeling

'Inevitability'is indeed the word. This poem has a sense of inevitability about it too.

ReplyDeleteI thought the whole idea of life was to fight death for as long as possible...and enjoy oneself at the same time!
ReplyDeleteWe all feel like this sometimes, but only a few give in to despair. After all there’s a lot to be grateful for. I really like the simile:

ReplyDeleteMaybe it is not so much giving up, as surrendering, being in the moment's uncertainty and Not Knowing, with some measure of trust and faith???? I, too, loved the sponge bob lines. Smiles.
