Modern Kindness

What is it to be kind ,
In this mocking (modern)
Day and age?

To smile at a stranger
Give them the heeby jeebies ðŸ˜¬

Be a loyal friend
Who money can’t amend

To trust in humanity
And better side of this
Cunning(human) populace?

To just be decent
With no strings attached .

To be good
To more than just your blood.

And to do all this
Even when no one is really watching.

(I think I can’t come up with a better picture for this poem. Two of the kindest souls ðŸ˜š)
Okay my kindness quota for the year is over ðŸ˜‚

  1. It is one of the unfortunate hallmarks of this age that people seem more at ease with casual cruelties. I hope that changes.

  3. Well-penned! To do all these things when no one is watching is what really matters — the rest is just lip-service or seeking validation.

  6. If only kindness was second nature. You make the longing for it clear, though the tone i lighter, distant, even mocking. Brilliant.

  9. Sadly we are encouraged to be competitive which reduces our ability to be kind. Even a polite smile may be considered threatening rather than a greeting that means I come in peace. Luckily now people look at this old man I am and think "he's okay" rather than "what does he want?"

  10. Beautiful that all is kindness especially "no strings attached" as kindness is often under the veil of What is in it for me

  12. Yes, to just be kind, doesn't seem to fit the modern model, but it blesses the soul. Lovely poem!
