Your Love is definitely my drug

My blog has completed 10 years of existence! :) Thanks everyone for the support.  Also what have they done to the blogger dashboard? It absolutely sucks. Sharing a poem which struck me when I was having bath, like Archimedes. A Eureka moment if i may :P

Distance has not dissolved my

Ever Flowing Love for you.

Now that time has evaporated

that seductive steam!

(oh! so seductive)

They have now crystallized like meth,

my feelings that had ached my soft core

like a rapturous encore.

And now I snort it out like Coke

Albeit aware that I might run out of stock

And die of shock regarding the loss of spark.

Being Wo/man

Reinstating obvious things which are sadly not so obvious to many out there.
On this ‘women’s day’ I want to state the following things : -

1) Feminism is not a bad word. It advocates the equality of all genders.

2) Like Emma Watson said , Gender shouldn’t be two opposing ideals but a wide spectrum accommodating every one.

3) A man is under pressure to be a ‘man’ too. He can’t show emotions , he HAS to provide for the family and  be tough and captain of the ship at all times. No one wants to marry a guy who is not ‘settled’. That’s sexist too.
What?!

4) If a woman wants to start a family and settle down instead of being career driven it is fine too. As long as one is doing something of their own will and not because of societal pressure it is absolutely fine. A man being a housemaker is nothing to be ashamed of. I was very surprised when my juniors were literally bullying their friend when she said her dream in life was to get married and have a family. Shaming is Shaming guys!

5) It is not womens day but women’s day. Please know the difference. Please stop using words like ‘feminazi’. It is a sincere request. It is a disservice to all the people who lost their lives and disrespect to all the feminists trying to express their original opinions.
The worst of the internet

6) While having a ‘day’ for something is a largely commercial concept to drive up sales and makes us ‘feel good’ , it does help bring the limelight on hitherto unknown views and problems. It helps create constructive discussion and debates and also improves awareness and make the issues commonplace. Only if you acknowledge it you can overcome it.

7) Saying that some issues which I feel need to be discussed more :-

  • Acid attacks on women and men ( to a lesser extent)
  • Marital Rape
  • Objectification of men and women in mainstream media and public consciousness
  • Legalization of Prostitution in order to curb Human Trafficking

The story

I am very pleased to announce that this post marks #150 milestone for Steady Meanderings. No , I am not the kind who keeps tracks of these things , I'm very poor at statistics. However , I am very much addicted to social media and when I checked my memories on facebook for today , it came to my knowledge that 3 years ago on the exact same day was when this blog hit 100 posts. So I just counted the posts after that and voila! It was 149 ( You may never know with me , re count to be safe. I did count like 17 times. I do remember one accounts exam where I came to the same answer 9 times and the 10th time managed to be different {and thankfully right} )
I could be a cool blogger who doesn’t fuss about this number and move on to the topic of discussion. Let’s face the truth , I am uncool.

I did write at length about my own blog once before in this embarrassingly juvenile post. ( Clickhere ) But history needs to be updated and a I want all the new readers to know the story of this blog which has shaped my identity and experiences over the years and moulded me as a person.
No , I am not going to go on a boring tirade of acknowledgements like an award recipient. I am going to just share with you all this blog’s story.
It all began one hot afternoon in Chennai summer of 2010 when S ( I hate using so many ‘I’s so switching to 3rd person) sat in front of her archaic personal computer. She had heard that celebrities ‘blog’ and decided to ‘blog’ . She had ‘hi5ed’ ‘orkuted’ and ‘facebooked’ so why not ‘blog’. She followed some basic steps and apparently had created her own blog. What was she going to name it?
Ok this is getting crazy , switching to first person :P
I ended up naming my blog ‘ brainwaves unlimited’ as I was a big believer in eureka moments doing all the writing for you. It had a dark background and my first post was on ‘ Mafia Wars’, a game which reflected my love for Mario Puzo and ambition to be a Don’s wife ( the things one dreams of becoming in their childhood *sigh* ) One should give me credit for not deleting my horrendous posts. It provides quality entertainment.

I kept racking my posts which no one had a clue about , I don’t think I even knew the art of facebook sharing or promotion back then. No one knew Brainwaves Unlimited existed. So what does the budding blogger do? Create another blog of course. This one was called ‘ Perceptions’ and had a pink background. So we had one blog for my brain and another for my heart. It took a while for me to realise that splitting my work in 2 blogs was counter productive as it looked like I hardly wrote in both the blogs and views came out to be less too. So I eventually combined both to become  “ Semi’s Stories and Sharings….” I always thought "…." Made one sound serious. Didn’t hit me for a long time that sharings wasn’t an actual word. Years rolled on and people started actually reading and reacting to my posts. Initially , it was read only by my school friends and relatives. My parents proud that their otherwise dull daughter was doing something productive , sent it to their friend circles. So I would have awkward moments when I would attend weddings and I would have adults who I hardly knew come up to me and tell me nice things about my blog ( red in the cheeks and quiet happiness that parents cared enough to share , Thenks Gaiz. )

I took up local journalism and spamming my friend’s walls ( not timelines)  with links. My initial posts are all light hearted and anecdotal – like this post hopes to be. Then like people transition the blog also did with more serious posts aboutaccidents and failures which hit my life finding a place here. High school saw me focus on the blog only when a ‘brainwave’ hit me hard. Somehow it survived through occasional updates. This has never been an ambitious blog competing for views or advertisements but merely a space where I voice out my thoughts or display some creativity and hope to engage in discussions or receive constructive feedback. This was followed by law school which meant lesser time for my blog which really stopped being updated. When I was applying for my editorial board I realised that ‘sharings’ wasn’t a word and I needed to rename the blog to submit it. So it became a more mature and less self obsessed ‘ Steady Meanderings’.

The name change brought in a responsibility to do something meaningful with it. So the ‘dynamic views’ template which looked good but wasn’t really functional was finally altered – that took a lot of effort as complacency sets in after half a decade of blogging.
I started participating in blogger communities like ‘ poets united’ which gave the jumpstart this blog needed. I also occasionally write for zeading and have started a wordpress blog ( blasphemy) where I promote anonymous content of budding writers.

It feels like I have come a looong way from Mafia war days. Writing for 6 years , 150 posts only when inspiration strikes is an achievement which I can’t believe I have unlocked.
At one level , I write only for myself , I am not going to change my content for anyone. But , it gives deep satisfaction to a content creator when their content gets perceived in the way it was intended to be or gives rise to varied interpretations or provokes thoughts or debates.
I would like to thank you if you have actually read the post till the end , it means you have been a part of my journey J and random feedbacks I get in my inbox or even an anonymous comment or criticism really makes my day cz no one wants to be not heard. On that double negative note I bid you goodbye!!
( till the next post )

Trendistan: Ze gods!!

Lets take a moment off and acknowledge the fact that there is going to be a post. I have been mentally planning and constructing this post for soo long ( since NOVEMBER 2012! :O ) I never thought it would see the daylight. Ladies and Gents , here it is ze 'trendistan' . Semi's version of 'my fives / my lists' :P The lists are random as they get..
Soo what is it going to be this time?! Religion , god ......... INDIAN MYTHOLOGY. Well this trend has been in vogue for the past....3000 years .But in the past few years , it has been trending a lot thanks to Amish tripati's Shiva trilogy and Ashwin sanghvi's - Krishna key , chanakya's chant... ( This is what we get when we stop writing romance...BRILLIANCE) and an all new serial of 'Mahabharata' has started in sun tv on a magnum opus budget. All these egs show us that Indian mythology is definitely trending and I am going to analyse the lesser know characters of Mahabharata .
Before going into the topic , i want to dive into one more seemingly tangential issue - the ever growing zest to curb Right to freedom of expression , in favor of  religious fundamentalism and bigotism. Bal thackeray - facebook issue , my name is khan, vishwaroopam (which was nothing but a dumb action film) ,Salman Rushdie's and Taslima Nasreen's continuous saga with Calcutta and countless other instances has shown us at least one thing. There is a need to understand religion and the true meaning of secularism . Through this post I want to tell you how authors humanized godly figures - and how we seem to cling onto the belief that the opposite is true. Every god went through a hurdle to show that everybody has faults. We should always keep this in mind.
ok chup.

My fascination with Indian mythology was an early one - grandmother telling stories of ramayana during power cuts ( so obviously quite a lot :P )  , dad buying me colorful books of Mahabharata to read - I was this strange kid who loved to spend her sundays watching the tamil dubbed version of mahab on sun tv.

To all those who have been frowning quizzically at the word 'Mahabharata' - It is nothing but an enormous Indian epic about two sets of warring cousins - kauravas and Pandavas of the kuru ruling lineage , who fought for power in a HUGE war of kurukshetra for over 20 days. And duh the good guys, the pandavas won - Yudhishtra , Bheema , Arjuna , Nakula and Sahadeva ; Arjuna's uncle lord krishna xD ; their polyandric wife - Draupadi. The kauravas composed of 100 brothers of whom we get to know much , only about duryodana the eldest and dusadana. We also have Karna the generous who was duryodhana's best friend and also the secret brother of the pandavas.
And I haven't even scratched the surface yet! It is an enticing tale of love , power , greed , jealousy , vengeance and WAR. I personally prefer it over Ramayana because a) the characters are closer to human b) More divine weapons / astras  and awesome description of war and the futility of it all in the end.

Characters from Mahabharata who needed to be known/understood better.

#Respect#
1. Bhishma - Not to be confused with Bheema , he is the grand uncle of the cousins. Mahabharatha starts with him when he decides to adopt celibacy in order to get his father (shantanu) married to his step mother - Satyavati , a fishing woman. It is the descendants of this couple who give birth to Dhirithirastra and Pandu , who in turn give birth to kauravas and pandavas ( quite elaborate eh? :> ) Coming back to Bhishma , the great son of goddess Ganga - He was so upright that the gods decided to give him the choice to decide his death! So live long he did , but never once desired for the throne which he gave away to his brothers , nephews and grand nephews happily! Yet it was his shrewd mind that kept the kingdom up and running through the unstable periods of times. If everyone had been like him - there would've been no need for Mahabharata. When he decided to die during the great war - both sides paid homage to him and even adjourned  the war for him and his death anniversary is worshipped as Bhismar shanthi , where everybody has to do the funerary rights for him as he left behind no children .
Even though bhismar was undoubtedly the greatest administrator and warrior , the epic teaches us that he couldn't control the greed of his grand nephews and couldn't side with the 'right' people in the war.

Remains anonymous
2. Yuyutsu , yes you hear me right! I am not referring to any chinese epic here but our very own Mahabharata  He is one of the least known characters of the epic - partly because he is mentioned in maybe 2 verses of the 100,000 versed anthology.   Still he stands testimony to the fact that stereotyping is always innacurate and there is always good in bad and bad in good (yin yan xP ) He is one of the 100 kauravas - yes the evil , greedy , malicious ones. He is the 100th brother or some say 101th kaurava (they didn't have calculators back then) and he was a good man. During the evil game of dice , where the pandavas were lured into gambling away all their wealth xP , freedom and were exiled to the forests , he was the only one who stood up and said what was happening was not fair. We don't know what happens to him after all that - he only has a line. A pretty poignant one if you ask me.  And he also switched sides during the war and joined the pandavas :O I readthatjustnowinWIKI. What a man link-----------> here
credits - some awesome website-> here

3.Mahabharatha is a very male dominated story . There are few women who can be called brave in the story and among them AMBA stands tall. Hers is a fascinating story which i am going to share . Our great Bhishma was an unmatched warrior and hardly did any mistakes during his lifetime. However , when he decided to find wives for his step brother vichitravirya - he went to the swaymvar ( brides pick their husbands) of Amba . Ambika and Ambalika. Their people misperceived that he himself had come to marry them and ridiculed him - calling him old. This enraged him and he defeated every kshatriya there and abducted the princesses . Sadly Amba was attached to king Shalva and refused to be forced into marrying vichitravirya. Guts. Bhishma sent her back to Shalva , who refused to marry her as he had been publicly defeated by bhishma. Obviously honor > love. Now vichitravirya already had two wives and didn't want another one - who had someone else in her mind (irony of it) and even the old Bhishma had to refuse as he had his vow to uphold. Sick of being played volleyball with , Amba turned her hatred toward Bhishma , as she felt that he was the root cause of her suffering. As no man could beat him , she did a long penance to lord shiva who said she can defeat him in her next birth. She was born a girl in her next life - daughter of king drupada. Annoyed that she was born a girl ( girls can't fight)  , she further penanced and became a man - Shikandi and got her/his moment of glory when she defeated bhishma ( with the help of arjuna) during the war.

This is the closest we get to a courageous women story and must applaud her determination and penance.

p.s - Wow all my spellings are underlined in red o.O

Someone who missed the list by an inch - Veera Abhimanyu :') _:'(

Hope the #trend stays

Too weird to live too rare to die! B)

Co conceived by sunanda srinivas <3 :*

Yes it is happening! Right in front of our eyes , Semisharings or semi's stories and sharings ( however/whatever you want to call it) has transformed from being this helplessly cute infant to this slow but steady toddler. This lil blog has turned 2 years old!! =) and kudos and hi5 's to all the overly generous and insightful  readers who have helped both of us grow step by step ..inch by inch.
Obviously some negatives have cropped up - the writer is getting overly lazy. And even two posts a month seems a strain =/ 'Quality is always better than quantity' seems to be the phrase to use now , at least to console some souls. However , I promise to write more ; even though 'yours awesomely' is in twelfth now :O yeah cry happy tears over her dedication.
This is NOT going to be a blog post about the blog itself or some running credits. Due to the lack of posts  nowadays , it may end up looking as though the only thing the writer is concerned about is herself and the processes underlying in the formation of the end product ( which is true in some levels) . As the next step is to move on from myself and how this blog is being run and as their must be some substance to abuse , I have decided (very solemnly) to write stuff that makes SENSE. ( some may say 'finally' :P )
So what are we gonna actually talk about kiddos?
Something 'educational' to satisfy the adults ; ok don't run away already. Something which is known but not shown off that much. Something so dynamic that it could and most probably would change the educational and occupational system of India if not Tamil Nadu. Something that is beyond understanding for some humans with 'middle class' mentality  and that dares us to dream beyond the conventional 'doctors' and 'engineers' . Yes , I am talking about the hidden or invisible group of our educational system the 'humanities' group.
So for all those out there who still  don't know what I am talking about :
India , at least the southern part of it has high school or plus one and plus two for 16 - 18 year olds. And sadly a majority of it is filled with people who believe that their sons and daughters can only succeed in life if they become engineers or doctors. Yeah given that professionals bring in FDI and more earnings from service sector , but COME ON  - how many engineers does a nation need?
Surely not more than the amount of lawyers , social workers , FARMERS , TEACHERS , politicians (educated ones!) psychologists , scholars , sociologists , journalists , artists and a billion of other professions for which there is unmet high demand. And which hasn't been tapped yet because we all want to be IT engineers and fly to USA.
Not that flying off faraway is wrong , but then please don't blame India for being inefficient and not good enough. The point of the para was - Humanities has more scope than commerce and science put together.
What are the different kinds of discrimination we humanities people face?
Being unique is viewed strangely by other humans who call those poor beings 'weird' . Being the only one in Southern India to take this particular group and one of the few in the whole of INDIA to do something is more daunting than it sounds. It takes a LOT of guts to pick this line. I can't help wonder why it has to be this way. Why can't a humanities student be given as much freedom and respect as a science or commerce one?
To quote some examples from my friend's' lives -
The fat bald uncle of a relative O.o
random relative : What group having you taken ma?
she: Humanities , uncle.
rr:  what did you say ma?
she : HUMANITIES
rr:  You mean commerce?
She: No uncle. It is a different group consisting off history , psychology , sociology , english , political science and economics.
rr: Ohh ( as if he understands)  what marks did u get ma? Padipu varalaya? ( you don't study well? )
She : (obviously offended) My CGPA was 10 'uncle'.
rr: really? Why are you trying to waste your life? You will end up becoming a housewife.
she : O.o
no offense to housewives. it requires a lot of skill and patience to run a family. But seriously people like  that uncle (1000's of them) cannot be shown the truth because they are too busy trying to close their eyes or looking the other way.
Another accusation on us is that what we study is too easy
  1. What is wrong with that? Jealous much that we immediately understand what we study?
  2. What i study TODAY can be used by me to enrich my life TODAY itself.
  3. We do not mug. We use much more brains and self thought than you when we discuss an Oedipus complex or if a particular historical fact is reliable and accurate or not =)
I am ending this blog shortly as I do not want to spoil the festive mood of my blog darling's birthday and also because the pent up anger is too much to broadcast in one post. So love you all and have a great summer!! <3

P.S - Yes a second part is coming up :D :*

Yours awesomely
Semi =)

Caste Discrimination for dummies

its pussy's post! x)
Hello there readers! Firstly a huge thank you for making this kutty blog reach 10000 views! =) Never would have been possible without your support xD As promised our very own Rhea also known as pussy and always surrounded by them has finally graced us with a post of hers. The 'post' is actually a rip off from her sociology project, which unlike the usual ones makes sense! Read it , laugh / swear and do whatever you want but don't forget that this is  for fun and fun only.  Before I buzz of - pussy is such a stud muffin that she actually submitted this!! :O

Human beings have for centuries been on the lookout for bigger and better ways to discriminate their counterparts.Among the more popular forms of discrimination, like racial discrimination (eg."Come hea' ya filthy nigger") , gender discrimination ( eg. "Go make me a sandwich woman") and religious discrimination (Eg. "He's just a money - grabbin' Jew"), lies a form of discrimination known as 'caste discrimination' , which is unique only to the Indian sub continent. Yes , adding to the long list of superlatives in India's pocket , (including most number of malnourished children , some of the worst roads and the most number of homeless people ) , is a particularly vicious form of discrimination known as caste discrimination.
If you haven't heard of caste discrimination , well you're probably one of the NRI's who stock up on toilet paper when making their token visit to India. In this project , we shall go through the whole process of caste discrimination, in so much detail,  that this report would be more aptly titled,  were it called 'caste discrimination for dummies '.
What does caste discrimination comes from?
Caste discrimination originally wasn't discrimination at all levels.  If you travelled back in time (although I don't know why you would want to,since they did not have running water back then), you would find a society in which every member belonged to one of four occupations - unless they were a dead beat person, who lived off his familys earnings. These four occupations were a) brahmana b) kshatriya c)vaishya d) shudra
Although people weren't discriminated according to which occupation they belonged to,  there was a definite hierarchy to this. Brahmanas were highest regarded people. These lucky people did all the praying and chanting and assumed the role of  messengers of god. Now since the olden day people were not stupid (they did not have twilight back then to deaden their brain cells) , they knew that no one messes with the gods. So, they awarded the brahmanas with the highest status in order to appease the realm of supernatural.
Next in line , were the kshatriyas. In the event that the gods were unable to keep the ancient societies free from invaders, they appointed the kshatriyas. The kshatriyas were stud muffins who put on their suits of armour and rode their horses to conquer the world. Being all macho and putting their life on the line, these daredevils got the admiration of all the jasmine scented ladies. But they felt this wasn't enough. The kshatriyas couldn't be sidelined either, for they had pretty sharp swords. So to keep their bodies puncture free, the people awarded them the second highest status.
The vaishyas were the merchants. As any materialistic person knows ,  god and peace are not enough to lead a happy life. Even Pontius Pilate would probably not have subjected jesus to crucification if he was shown a million dollars ( and was declared australia's next master chef ) The people were nervous that their merchants would protest against not being given a definite status and go on strike.Whatever  would they do without any money to buy the world's finest dhotis and chilli powder? To avoid this the grim prospect of an ancient society recession,  the vaishyas were bestowed with the third highest status.
At the bottom of the hierarchy were the shudras. The term 'errand boy ' is more appropriate. If there was a slipper to fix or a leaky roof to be sealed ,  there would be a shudra ,  with his handy tool belt. The shudras also dabbled in agriculture. But in their backyards ,  they were hard at work, creating the deathly hallows.
SEEMS LIKE DISCRIMINATION TO ME
well it isn't, okay. Discrimination would entail rigidity, common practices and the occasional finger pointing. Back in the day however,  none of these characteristics came into play.  For instance,  if a boy was tired of his kshatriya family's murderous and violent ways of,  he could snap his fingers and ta-dah!  he could become a holier than thou brahmana.
So when did this change?
Roughly around the post vedic period,  the elders decided to become mean old gasbags. With their mood swing ,  came a whole host of reforms to the system.  They decided they would no longer tolerate indecisive people jumping like pogo sticks from one caste to another. Caste systems became more rigid than snooki's hair and there were more rules in the caste system than there are in jail.
Meat was snatched away from the brahmana's hungry mouths and was replaced with less satisfying vegetables.
If a shudra fell in love with a nubile vaishya girl , well that was too bad,  because now only marriages within the castes were allowed . From then on ,  if a child was born in a brahmana family,  he was destined to become a brahmana ,  irrespective of whether he wished to fight ,  bargain or plough.

I Love you . I miss you. I need you

I cannot believe it. I am writing a lot . What is  even more unbelievable is - nothing seems to be coming on my blog. So , "I have decided to prove my loyalty to you my blog" ( Yes ,its called 'animism' - interacting with inanimate objects. I haven't matured have I? )

So Dear blog! I have decided to tell you the story you should surely know about - how you were created and evolved! I know you may not hear or comprehend me - for you are still an infant - 1 year and 7 months old (already).
It was on April 26 I still remember. It was the stage in summer holidays when I did 'nothing' throughout the day. As easy as it may sound , it is TOUGH to do nothing throughout the day. So , there I was googling 'how to gain weight' and all the other seemingly impossible stuff. Then out of nowhere - like how life was created - I typed 'blog' on the search bar.
The mother of all creations.
Without knowing a thing about you ,I decided to create you - be happy. If I had known what the button 'create blog' would have done to my life , I would surely have shown more excitement. But , I was not to know. All I saw was this mundane work station , where you needed to type something...
I would never know why I selected the topic of my first post on you to be 'Mafia Wars'! Maybe because it is the coolest game ever , maybe because I want to marry a Don when I grow up (soon) or maybe because that was the only thing interesting in my life then . As far as first attempts go - it was the WORST. (haha, now everyone would want to read it >.<)
Your name was 'Brainwaves Unlimited' then. Those were tough days for both of us....I didn't know a single thing about raising a blog  and not many people were concerned enough to look after/at us. However you weren't born to be left to compete. I just wrote what I felt like and still do. Somewhere along the way I created your twin/alter ego/brother the 'Perceptions' . You actually became jealous after a point of time - I wrote more from my heart there and from my brain here. Along the way , I realized that having the two of you gave me lesser views and reduced posts in each blog , so I magically combined you both.
That moment must stay put in my memory for a long time to come. For , I had just created my own brand :P 'Semi's Stories and Sharings........!' . As kiddish and over alliterated as it sounds it held on. Here my blog , you must acknowledge the role of your father - FACEBOOK. He was the proud daddy showing off his kids in the best possible way - statuses , wall posts . chat , groups , page.... you name it he did it.
You don't know what you brought in to my life. Happiness , more page views ( =P ) , recognition , pride , the satisfaction of doing something useful for the first time in my entire life , an almost unhealthy dose of positivist feed backs from my friends  and the much needed style sense without which , I could never dress you in all those custom templates.
I remember your first b'day . You were all I fretted about throughout the day. Sadly , I was on top of a mountain somewhere in Mamandur , trekking mountains and collecting anecdotes to dote you with .BVM friends , CV ppl , KFI teachers , familial relations , fellow bloggers and the net users - you have improved my relations with everyone. I even joined the ill famed TWITTER for your sake. In the minimum - you at least provided me with topics I could debate about when I felt weird and an Identity which I very much need.
'SemiSharings' as I affectionately call you - you are the best thing I have clicked into in my life , the only thing I care most about , the first milestone I have crossed , you are my dear diary who tracks my progress as a writer and a person. You contain maybe many a masterpiece in the draft form and most importantly you are the first 'thing' I ever raised =*
What I am saying maybe cheesier than a margherita - yet I am saying it. I Love you . I miss you. I need you. See! You have even made my usual nonchalant and cool cover slip. For you , my darling...:P I am ready to expose my true self. The fact that you are a non living thing helps . A lot.
No , I am not drunk dear. I wrote all this for a reason ....I want you and all your aunts and uncles to understand that even if I post in you for only once in a month - you are the most important THING in my life and you will always be.
You are not the cloud but the sky itself =)

Your mom , god and lover :P

Nostalgically Wimpish

Definite nostalgia!
Yeah. A definitely  weird combo of words - well my life is weird. These holidays have surely been awesome , jobless and interesting as usual. My normal day involves talking, texting, chatting on facebook and e-mailing (it still exists!) friends. I also try to read books , absorb general knowledge/the newspaper and read/write blogs. However the latter activities which are approved by parents don't seem to have the time. When I finally finished day before yesterday's  diary entry ( Yes. I have warned you that I keep a record - so BEHAVE yourself or the history wouldn't forgive you =P ) and sat down to open the year book , my phone ringed its 'ROCK you like a  HURRICANE' and it was another person with another story to talk to.
That's why I think I am going to be grounded - soon.
After so many constant hours of sharing my voice , words and thoughts to SOO many people I can confidently say I have a lot of friends. And a huge variety in that too.
To quote airtel :
( Lyrics From :: Lyricspassion.blogspot.com )
"Movie Buddy.. Groovie Buddy
Hi Buddy.. Bye Buddy
Joke Buddy.. Poke Buddy
Gana Buddy.. Shaana Buddy
Chaddi Buddy.. Yaar Buddy"
If you ask me , changing school must be made a must! It will make some sad people who have no friends get many. Again , some may opt to think they are content with some close ones. What they are missing is that humans are fundamentally social beings - you may act as though you do not care but your unconscious B| won't forgive you lol
Sometimes when you live in oblivion in your present life for a long time and take a break to go back to the past - you wish you did not.
The other day miss x  met up with her long time back best friend Y. I must say x was having a blonde moment when she believed that things would be the same after all these years. She found out that time had changed them both in myriad ways and that she had run out of words to speak with her . Shocking thing was y was  blind to her friend's obvious discomfort and weird silence and thought that it was the part of her 'new' life. Well how much ever she would like to think that changes makes people completely different from their old self she is wrong and she knows it. We are all a product of our past, present and future.
Irony - x who was always brimming with useless words ( no its not about me guys :P ) found herself speechless with her own best friend - ok ex .
Moral -

  1. It is always not very wise to dig up the past or go back
  2. and to expect your friends/family to remain the same.
I rock! B|
But NO!! My holidays are waaay better and tell me that being in touch with buddies is the most fruitful task in life. So much to catch up about , so much more gossip to share - if I run out of stories he/she will fill me in! and it may always need not be called 'nostalgia' . Why not constantly remain in touch with them at proper breaks so that they are also a part of your present life? It is always fun when your present and past merges and blends into one!! ( Atleast till they stop colliding)
I think enough of abstractness. I was just chatting with some old friends OMG!! Sanjana who NEVER comes online - I think she has come on chat after 3 YEARS - was online today. and guess what? We were catching up about our 6th standard days and on mutual friends and I even invited her to my kolu. So she's not in the archaic category anymore. I was busy arranging my plans for tomorrow with some more friends when .....it HAPPENED.
what happened?? The focus of this whole post - the wimp. Mr.Hrishi Jawahar. 6th standard was and is the best year of my LIFE and one of the important reasons is the guy I sat with in the first row - Hrishi. I hated the idea of sitting with him - I wanted to sit with my gang. 10 minutes in the first day was all I got before the teacher separated me from by bestie and put me on the front row with this small kid. OK I accept I was also short . I still remember the days when I used to peep into his book during biology =P and how he used to get freaked out that we were copying lol
that pretty much defines him :P
Then sir suddenly decided to fly away to Delhi. I swear that I did not believe that he was actually leaving.I even filled his autograph book with comic grace. (The reason for my lack of belief being Myself :P I used to bluff a lot back then and threw a stunt like this in 5th standard to get some sympathy lol ) and when I came back 5 cms taller in 7th standard to show him who's taller - I got a facepalm. He had actually LEFT .
Facebook was not created then and I had other worries like my bestie not being in my class for the first time in 7 years and the other 'serious' issues of a 11 year old. So Heerishi was in the backseat of my memory - but he was still there. I took a solemn oath that if he ever came back I would give him a taste of his own blood. Years rolled , I had almost completely forgotten him , when a girl in our class randomly informed us that she saw Hrishi on the road. I did not believe it obviously - there are a lot of small and kind of fat kids in Chennai who could be mistaken for him. However rumors continue that he moved back here and was studying in St. Michael s which is only a block away from my own school.
I have a really close friend in Michael's and put her in charge of finding him - if he was there. She was a new student by herself there and didn't venture boldly enough to find a guy who was 3 years older than her.
Suddenly she changed schools and my dreams of ever finding that rascal was put on hold.   Happily enough for both of us , she hated her new school and within a week moved back to Michael's =O So now everyone loved her more for coming back and showing that she loved this school more ( or so I comprehend) Finally she got the sense to check her year book to see if he was there , however it wasn't that easy ( Idk why ) and like the Indian government I finally learnt about his presence/existence after a 2 year delay.
I finally learnt the feeling my parents get when they find a college friend of theirs who they find on facebook. I used to think the friend finder was useless until hours ago . It is nice to know that he remembers me after all these years , but thats obvious because I am unforgettable B|
friend finder ftw!
On a more serious note , people who want to find him just type his name and I will be a mutual friend so add him :P Also that loser doesn't have any security setting so you can see all his pictures to know if its really him =)
Every one of you will have a long lost friend . Who is he/she? Temme how you lost them. I may just be the help you need to search them.! =)
 I will Curse you!

I am really sorry to the people who don't care about this post. I just found a long lost friend , if you mock me you may never find yours! Ok don't get angry - I'm not a very perfect person :P my curse may not work!

And to those who expect more from the word 'wimp' . Google defines wimp as

Noun: A weak and cowardly or unadventurous person.Verb: Withdraw from a course of action or a stated position in a way that is seen as feeble or cowardly

and I read this book ' The diary of a wimpy kid: Rodrick Rules'  , I am sure many must already have! and I tell you - its one of the very true , real , laugh out loud books left in this age. So grab it and I am positively sure you can devour it within a day!! <3

yours nostaligacally wimpishly

365 days

So here it is Finally - 365 days since I wrote my first blog post, heck! 365 days since I knew what a blog was!! and yet here I am celebrating my blog's first birthday and not its anniversary......I have a theory for it , anniversary eg. like marriage involves 2 people right? and a birthday means 1 person. So what this genius is getting at is that I don't feel the blog to be a different entity - I feel that it is a part of myself which has taken birth! Pah! =O So here it is 'Semi's stories and sharings.......' 's first birthday whatever.

I don't know if I have used the blog to its full potential - or my full potential yet. In many a cases I have restricted myself from writing things I found amusing to myself as I thought it wouldn't necessary to my readers , stopped myself from writing negative stuff at any cost and always aimed at delivering good stuff - I have never been careless even in 1 post - don't call this my arrogance or self praise but a fruit of my labor.

I remember that the first post I ever published about 'mafia wars' . I had no reason for writing it as my first post then , but then I never looked for a reason , but as days gathered I started enjoying every post and started having specific reasons and occasion for each post. Like my brother's blog I do not amass 10's and 20's of post every month but the point is that I do NOT strive for numbers - I am more satisfied with the current speed I am going in 3 or 5 a month so that my readers don't get coaxed with an overdose of my medicines - however sweet they maybe ( like zincovit)

Many people don't know that when this blog started it was named 'brainwaves unlimited' - again no reason why I kept it. Maybe because in the Enid Blyton book I read the hero always got 'brainwaves' and maybe I got a sudden brainwave to create that blog , the point is , I thought about the reason now only! Whatever it maybe my impulse to create this blog has been the most thoughtful and according to me the most positive and right decision of my life.

left - her right - me

Here I would like to reveal about someone ,who I have written about in bits and pieces all over. She is the biggest supporter/fan of my blog and as far as I am concerned her opinion = 100 other passers by 's opinion . She hates me because I never created a single post for her - don't ask me for reasons again =P but here it is - I owe my whole blog to her - Poornima Krishnan (aka) Poori (aka) my friend =)

Putting her aside , many others have showered unconditional support and love for my blog and made me inspired to write at times I wouldn't - after ALL - I was in 10th when I started to write the blog - the worst time for co curricular activities. Special mentions to Narayanan Mohan for his accented enthusiasms , Akshath's grudging admiratins , bhaskar's surprise motivation , Daksha's Clean commentary , Rithesh's frank demeanor , Diya's divine interventions , Varshini (aka) Sabari's awesome comments and I also thank Swetha and Tanushree for letting me call them and torture them to read my posts all the time =P I also thank Arjun Vignesh for letting me publish a post about him with SO much co operation ;)

If I forgot any of you it is yet another time for you guys to put up that poker face and accept my sorry as you alwys do =) ( I know that I forgot many eg.Emaya =P but I am too lazy and also have a train to catch)

When this post is out I would be someplace where I can't access the computer.......so please leave the encouragements and blessings in the comments column of this blog , my fan page in facebook (semisharings.blogspot is its name) and the event on face book 'my blog's b'day' . Again I unveil my magic words - Please , thank you , sorry - for no apparent reason .
my 2 swords

I also have to tell that when I ran 'brainwaves unlimited' , I also started another blog by the name 'perceptions' - I didn't know why I did it! Many people liked it better then because it had a pink background (so unlike me =D )  , however I transferred all the content from perceptions into brainwaves and renamed it into semi's  stories and sharings.....- this time I had a reason! The no. of posts per month were very small in each blogs as I had to share my time between 2 blogs and not 1 , People started comparing perceptions and brainwaves and preferring 1 more than the other , I didn't like it that way as I thought both were equal! Also I wanted to ascertain my individuality by creating an identity for myself - through the blogs new name.

I want to say that the value of the audience is always under estimated by the audience itself. If we like a book for example we praise the author through fb or twitter , that praise is just an impulsive action for most of us and we tend to forget it easily , however the action itself leaves such an impact only the receiver can know and enjoy. This may sound selfish or even druggy  but I never lie in my blog - The major part of me writes this blog for the appreciation I would get after its publishing than the act of writing itself! You don't know what the 1 small 'nice' does to my heart! So please acknowledge.

This blog has also done things personally to me - which I would have never believed would happen when I clicked the create blog option a year back. Many family members - who I never mentioned this blog about read it circumstantially by themselves and now I am respected for it! In KFI , where I passed an interview ( I suck at speaking) I was questioned so much about my blog and internet and I owe my blog for getting me my dream seat!

I would also state that there is surely trillions more to come and this is not the end of me - at least in this beautiful space.I would say that I will surely evolve and re invent my blog with passing times - as blogger is already revealing revolutionary features which will surely excite the world!! I have always changed my fonts and backdrops and will continue doing it to maintain the freshness -  I also hope that my writing , understanding of what I need to show here improves and I will always solemnly state that everything in my blog is original as copied thoughts are just copied thoughts.

As I take my first step towards my blog's life I say bye
As I take the last step put of my school I dont cry
If all you gonna think is that I only sigh
You are wrong as I always TRY
So put up ur hands up in the air and give me a high five !!!!

                                                                                    Yours Whole heartedly
                                                                                 SEMI
