Hi guys. I have been trying to write a poem
for the last half hour and have ended up deleting innumerable drafts already.
That side of my brain hasn’t really been put to work in a good while and let’s
give it some time to catch up.

Is the up
I am currently interning at a Tax law firm
and I have to admit I am struggling with all the technicalities. But I believe
learning is a long arduous and painful process and one day like the karate kid
or Akshay Kumar from Chandni Chowk to China , I’ll be all ready and pro to face
the world… or at least get a job.
Ponderings
I am back in Chennai for this month and I
have to admit that it is very weird to be back in a place with only the
skeletons of my past remaining… the souls have moved on to their respective
futures and careers of course. Ah the other side of the brain is finally
starting to flow guys!
It is so scary to think of the future and
where I’ll be in a year. Out of college and with a job hopefully but where?
Here where it all begun once and waiting to begin again? Or there? Or someplace
which my brain hasn’t even processed yet?
It doesn’t help that the helpful elders
keep throwing in innuendos about marriage! Like that is even in the horizon. I
know that the voices will only keep getting louder and my poor grandmom is in
for a rude shock when she finds out that it is not even in the outside of the
picture haha.

So I have been reading Patriot Games the
book ( yes which became a movie with Harrison Ford in it) The book takes it own
sweet time to come to the point and spells out too many procedures to be any
fun. Worst is the casual sexism and racism which is just impossible to digest
in today’s context. It was quite amusing and ironical to read about an America
which didn’t fear terrorism and the philosophies which shaped the pre 9/11 era.

I watched the Hell and the High water
yesterday and was really impressed by it. Jeff Bridges , Chris Pine and Ben
foster star in the movie and the screenplay really does a good job of fleshing
out their characters. So much so that even though you don’t agree with their
actions you can still understand their motivations for the same. The move deals
with Armed Robbery in a refreshingly honest way. Also , I think Chris Pine wins
the Chris war with this one.

I watch like zillion shows at the same
time. Still I would recommend the Aussie show ‘800 words’ , It is a perfect
replacement for Packed to the Rafters. It is about George Turner a recent
widower who uproots his two teenage kids from Sydney to a small town in New
Zealand called Weld. Doesn’t sound like much but the show has created a
beautiful fictious land called Weld with a wide battery of characters who are
all authentic. Each episode manages to be fresh and strongly thematic and I
insist that you give it a watch.
So what is the up with you people? C’mon
you have to warrant this earnest personal post with a comment atleast! Let’s

Every blogger out there has that one
eternal wish – to know that they are not rambling to themselves in this vast
internet blog space. Pageviews and likes can only take you so far. It is all
about comments and reader’s engagement. If a post elicits someone else to
express a counter view it has done its primary job.
So today I am going to initiate and partake
in a ‘fun’ activity with all you readers. I am putting up 13 questions and my
answers for the same. You guys can choose the ones which appeal to you and
answer the same. The answers need not be long – let’s have some fun with this!
1)Coffee or tea?
The classic way to
segregate people. Espresso or earl grey? Filter Kaapi or Chaai? Caffeine
fuelled mornings or Tea enabled evenings? Well my answer is * Drum roll * Coffee! No surprises there for people who already
know me. You can take the girl from kaapi but not kaapi out of the girl ( did I
say that saying right? I always mess it up!) But I have recently started
obsessing over the milder teas too.
2)Cats or Dogs?
Another question which divides
people across borders. Doggo or grumpy cat? Scooby Doo or Smelly Cat? Puppy or
kittie? I am a dog person. I don’t really have a choice in this matter. If I
think otherwise, my Laika will disown me :P
3)Game
of thrones or Breaking Bad?
For
reasons I cannot fathom , the world seems to pit a historical fantasy against a
crime drama. For reasons , I have already stated -> here I do not get Breaking Bad. The
broader tapestry and more twisty turvy Westeros captures my imagination. And my
House in GoT : Lannisters. Hear us Roar! I love Cersei Lannister and Jaime
Lannister. Not together. As individual characters :P
4)TV
shows or Movies? That is one Vague ass question. Who comes up with these? (
Ok I do. ) I personally prefer character development over the plot itself and
that is why I love TV shows over Movies. 2 hours is too less a time to leave a
mark on my soul. That’s my opinion
5)Marvel
or DC?
That is a toughie since I joined the Superhero Bandwagon only
recently. While I did enjoy the Avengers movie a lot , I have stated how I love
TV over Movies. Hence my love for Flash , Arrow and Supergirl ( Berlanti
universe) supersedes my love for Thor and Captain America.
6)Classics
or Thrillers? There seem to be two types of readers – those who like their
Dickens and those who like their Archers. While I like to read everything , I
prefer courtroom dramas and investigative thrillers and modern drama over the
more slow paced yet lovely classics. It feels like blasphemy to say this out
loud
7)Kamal
or Rajini?
One of the hardest questions of my childhood. While I fell
immediately in love with Rajini’s charisma and style , Kamal’s genius and sheer
versatility and what he has brought in to Tamil Cinema has made him edge over
the former. I still will go FDFS for both their movies.
8)Ilayaraja
or A R Rahman?
This question was harder for the previous generation and
will be irrelevant for the next one. Ilayaraja takes home the melodies but
A.R.R takes everything to the next level. He was the man who gave me music in
my growing up years – I stick with my Arima.
9)Dhoni
or Kohli?
Both the players have made Indians believe we can win. I go with
my captain 07 MSD. P.S – CSK IS BACK NEXT YEAR YAY
10)Morning
or night person? I am a night owl. It gives you tranquility and space to
think. No tick tock.
11)Poetry
or Prose? Right now in this point in my life , I want to flow like poetry
rather than end up like prose.
12)Saturday
or Sunday? Saturdays are overrated. Sundays I vote! Laziness > partying
13)Was
this Fun or not? I weirdly found this fun. ( Maybe because I created this

I used to be a cinema paithiyiam. Used to know every Cheran movie , every random flick on K T.V and used to fill journals with my stray observations about a new film , gossip or even song lyrics. Then college happened. And I got more hooked to English T.V shows. However , this sem break I got time to catch up on tamil cinema and renew my love affair with Kollywood. And since I have my own blog now , I thought why not note my stray observations on this space.
1) The movie watching experience :
So a couple of days back I was poring through Baradwaj Rangan's blog on Wordpress primarily because I was bored. Also , I found the discussions under his review to be greatly informative and entertaining. Many people were attacking the critic for expressing his opinion over the film. But what else are you supposed to do as a film critic?
The movie watching experience is a very subjective one and depends on what you expect from a film. Brangan likes to watch movies which emphasise form over content , the making must be good. Most front row viewers care about their stars and how they are projected. Some people come to cinema to 'escape' reality and expect wholesome entertainment with no messages. Some people care about what a movie conveys even if the execution eg.Kaththi. And so I asked myself what do I look for in a movie?
For me the film should be engaging and there must be some care gone into it. When I sit in the theatre it should enthral me and hold my attention in some way. Organic twists are highly appreciated too :P If the movie is trying to be emotional it should go all out and stay true to its genre and not try to be reluctant attempt.

2) acham enbathu madamaiyada!
I ended up watching my first Simbu film and first GVM movie in theatre ( I think) Did you know the film was originally titled to be ' sattendru marudhu vanilai'! I think that title would have been more apt for this film. While the first half of the film is a tad slow it is very natural and shows a steady romance brewing between the leads. The road portions of the movie were very picturesque , however back to back songs bore you after a point. Watch out for the picturization of Thalli Pogathey song ( getting polarising views - I liked it) The second half proceeds at a brisker pace with well staged action elements. However , the last 15 - 20 minutes of the film were utterly inorganic with the entire story , contrived and leave you very confused when you leave the movie hall. It actually ruins the decent work made by the rest of the film I feel. The audience I felt were all overloaded with random info when they walked out of the theatres. And that is why I gave such a detailed review of this film. I do not how to gauge it at all! A very decent experience till the climax and S.T.R at his natural best and A.R. Rahman god level as usual. GVM should really get new stories repeating the same plot and characters movie after movie is just sad when you have such good technical ability and execution.
3) Kamal gautami broke up gaizzz!!
More importantly Kamal lost his private space completely. I know even Brangelina couldn't escape it but why are people so obsessed with the personal lives of actors? Do we scrutinise the personal lives of our doctors? Maybe we should , they hold scalpels over our bodies after all. But no , we go fulla into why Kamal and Gautami. Is it because of Shruti Haasan or Gautami's daughter or Ramya Krishnan. Romba mukkiyam. And even if you read all this nonsense don't judge the actor or his brilliant work on the basis of such unverified nonsense. It doesn't make him look bad. It makes you look bad.
4) Too much youth pa
I don't want to sound like a paati but nowadays they make movies for the 'youth' pasanga only. While there is sudden acceptability for sci fi , thrillers and other experimental movies and the traditional action , romance being rock steady and horror of too many horror comedies , where are the Family dramas and genuine comedies? I'm pretty sure family audiences don't want to watch skimpily clad heroines and stalker boy romances and Tasmac scenes and unnecessary violence in the name of U films :P
5) Scriptu choose panrathu
While someone should start picking scripts for Vikram ( paavam he keeps wasting his talent in duds) and Surya is decidedly unlucky ( most of his movies sound good on paper) why can't the average star pick a better script or atleast ask for some kadai instead of 2 hours and 20 minutes of the same gangster/cop movie he did 2 films back? There are so many good directors in the industry now yet our star vehicles are reluctant to change.
Not everyone can be a Vijay sethupathi or Ulaganayagan and be ballsy but be a bit Vishnu Vishal atleastnu we are asking.
So what do you expect from a nalla padam?

Nothing screams CHENNAI more than
Rajinikanth. The fervour with which he is ‘worshipped’ is looked at by
outsiders with cynical and smug eyes. No one has ever managed to capture the
public’s collective consciousness like him. When he falls sick , people pray
for his welfare. He is seen as an extension of one’s own family. This may seem
as pretty naive to many. But I feel it just embodies the welcoming and loving
spirit of Chennai.
The almost individualistic human spirit
which rose to the occasion during the recent floods.Celebrities and common
people alike helped many silently and not so silently.
I heard many saying that the hype around
Rajinikanth is being Media manufactured. While it does require strong muscle to
put up so many posters and achieve visibility via tie ups with 5 star , Air
Asia and Amazon they count for squat when people don’t accept it.
The fortunate or unfortunate truth (
however you see it) is that people have accepted Rajini as one of their own.
They love him. I love him. There is something about him you just cannot ignore.
Ram Gopal Varma recently posted an ugly
tweet questioning the Rajini phenomenon , basically making a joke about his
looks. That is another reason why I love us. We don’t really care how our
heroes look. ( we do care how our heroines look , but that is reserved for
another day) Rajini may not act like Kamal Haasan but he has a villainous streak
from his early days in his career which shines through in motta boss scenes of
Sivaji or the vasi meh scenes in Enthiran / Robot.
What makes Kabali more exciting though is
that Rajini , the safe one has decided to experiment! He has finally hit the
reboot button , move on with the times , and finally decided to show the grey
in his non existent hair. He is being directed by a young talent who cares
about filmmaking and not just moneymaking and produced by a veteran who cares
enough about the moneymaking. He doesn’t seem to have a juvenile looking actress
acting as his love interest ( seems to be a trend of 2000s , rajini of the 90s
was married mostly or in mature relationships atleast) and there are a talented
bunch of secondary actors around him.
And he still has swag.
Some things never change!
And yes , I am proud to be a Rajini fan . I
am not going to be forced to be ‘ashamed’ of it because some wrongly westernised
idiots think it is not ‘cool’ or ‘hip’ anymore.

Forgive me father , for I have sinned. I
have always wanted to go to a church and make grand confessions to a calm
priest. But that never seems to work out in my favour. So in this mini diary
entry , I register my random private thoughts – which are not sins per se and
fit more into the heading of confessions. I want the inevitable someone who
peeps into this diary to know that I'm not high , embarrassed or drunk – right now at this moment at least.
1.I didn't learn Hindi not because of some big moral principle of solidarity for my
state’s culture but because I was too lazy (still am) to learn a new language
which didn't immediately affect my then near future . Although, necessity forced
me to understand it somewhat eventually.
2.
I'm proud of being a ‘tomboy’ or the opposite of my general stereotype as a girl.
And , that has led me to hide that I actually enjoy romantic movies much more
than action ones.
3.
I'm ashamed of Surya as an actor nowadays. I fell in love with the guy who excelled
in multiple offbeat yet catch roles. Either the star in him as eaten the actor
completely or he has very bad taste in choosing his scripts. I just wish the
old surya is back. I hate the post 2011 Surya. * That was tough to admit, even
on paper* I still hope that his next movie will bring a turnaround. I have been
waiting for 5 years now.
4.
I
hate the Kolkata Knight Riders because of a) Sharukh Khan b) their arrogance ( Cough
cough Gambhir) and c) … because they are damn good as a team and the only
serious threat to Chennai Super Kings overall.

I
find it uncool to admit that I prefer Tamil music over English music. Harris
Jayaraj any day . *sheepish grin*

I
don’t think I'm serious enough to be a lawyer. But I do know that I’ll get
there eventually. If I start soon.

I’m
a very self centered person and I really don’t listen when others talk about
their life stories and that in turn makes me feel guilty because I impose my
life story on everyone through this blog.

It is end of another year and here I am, like a clockwork
mouse to publish my ‘end of the year post’. Only that, there won’t be a
retrospective ‘2014’ post this time. My life is not so nicely structured
anymore – college does that to you and seeing the year through my eyes will be
too jumbled to be comprehensible for you.
But it IS the end of the year and old habits die hard. So I
am going to write about ‘happy new year’ albeit a different one from what
you’re thinking about. At least the one I think you’re thinking about :P ( and
yes! I finally used albeit , maybe used it wrongly but love that word too much
*nerd face* )
We are going to talk about HAPPY NEW YEAR , the Bollywood
movie starring Sharukh Khan , Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan among many
others. We are not going to do a detailed analysis of the plot , script etcetera because let’s face it – there isn't any. It is just a mishmash of English and Hindi gangster heist films which happens to be enacted by the most popular stars in India right now.
My problem with the film was that … it was so much fun! Does
it really matter if a film is funny -intentionally or unintentionally? The fact
is that, it is very hard to make a movie and make people laugh. The fact that it
was ready to laugh at itself and offer entertainment is enough for most people
out there. How else would you explain the 300 crore phenomena happening after
every big star’s movie?

There are 2 types of films out there today – films that
expect to boggle your brain and films which expect you to leave your brain at home.
Most star backed films in India belong to the latter category. Why should I put
effort to confuse the audience , when doing the same movie with slightly
different dialogues and costumes earns me 300+ crores ?(100 crores is so 2011),ask the great Khans of
today. Aamir Khan is the only one trying to challenge himself but after Dhoom
3, I’m not so sure anymore.
The problem with

'star movies’ nowadays (not to be confused
with the channel of the same name xP) is that there is only glitter and stardust .
Matter doesn't matter! Packaging has become more important than the content. It
is like most chip packets nowadays – selling 60% air should NOT be a trend or a
thing. We as consumers should have a say, we should demand more.
I’m not asking for Nolan like movies. I know if we ask for
that, an unofficial vernacular remake will be made , leaving the moviegoers and
original creators in tears. Just put in some more effort – try to make the
scripts more believable , stunts must be awe inspiring but believable to make
your hair go up. The climax scene in HNY where they fill in water instead of
oxygen into the locker to help them escape is laughably bad.

Even a Rajinikanth
movie needs to be believable – I heard the climax of his recent Lingaa and
cried in horror- The modern need for mindless extravagance has not spared the
great man too.
I know this movie rant is not going to change anything.
We’ll still have regressive romantic scenes , cardboard characters , men
kicking bombs of hot air balloons and playing out badly written scenes and I
know that I’ll be cheering and whistling in the theater because I love my
Indian cinema no matter what.
I know it is crap but if it is enjoyable crap nobody is
complaining - too much.
Music plays a vital role in all our lives.It makes the world a much more beautiful place to live in :) If there was a situation where i had to choose one among my 5 senses - I would pick hearing. In my opinion,
'Those who can't listen to music are deaf and those who don't are dumb'
For a long time music to me was synonymous with film music- that too tamil songs. A.R . Rahman and Ilayaraja will remain my favorites forever and after :P
Harris , Yuvan , Vidyasagar , Anirudh , DSP are my other favorites in tamil music industry.
Even when i was a toddler of 2, I used to dance for 'mustafa mustafa' - the friendship anthem :') Due to my grandmother's influence I was forced to attend carnatic concerts and much to everyone's amazement I ENJOYED THAT ALSO :O
Adults being adults , mistook my enthusiasm towards listening to music as equal to that of practicing it. and umm... that didn't go too well :P Only after my music teacher passed away due to blood cancer and my keyboard master got a brain stroke did they realize that my learning music didn't augur well for the universe.
Finally left alone to pursue 'listening' , I expanded my auditory horizons by adding western ( a bit late i admit) , hindi and anything youtube offered to my repertoire.
Listening to music also means another thing to me - shuffling. I let my shuffle do the talking , in this case singing! Weirdly my mp3 player and my itunes player, read my mood pretty well and have come handy in times of distress and happiness .
So why am I rambling about music all of a sudden?

b) i have to write something :P
c) I have always wanted to put on my shuffle player and write a song about the random tune that pops :D

This song didn't come in the shuffle. But what the heck :P This song really needs to be talked about and promoted. The song is called 'ezhavu' and it features in the underrated tamil film '5 5 5 ' . So what is so special about this track? Apart from the hilarious one liners sprinkled and the groovy beat that makes this instantly adorable , it is completely based on the creepy theme of 'DEATH' . Kudos to the director for deciding to do a song on death which many usually may find on the wrong side of superstition. This song DESERVES TO GO VIRAL.
2.The biggest tamil hit of 2012 , "sollitaley ava kadhala" ( she has told her love) in the voice of ranjitha and Shreya Ghosal pushed its music director to the zennith of his career. The album kumki has cleaned up all the music awards this year. One listen in to the album and you'll know why. Staying true to its tribal elephant based identity , almost all its tracks are melodies and the folk one is a trendsetter! This particular song though simple, stands out for its melodious tune , voice of the singers and also the stunning visualisation of the hilly forests <3
3. Ah! A kamal song on his birthday = perfect xD Didn't I tell you about the freaky skills of my itunes shuffle? 'Germaniyin' song sung by the legendary S.P.B and Janaki in the film 'Ulasa Paravaigal' ( happy birds) has achieved cult status and is one of the earlier songs of ulayaganayagan Kamal Haasan :') It is one of the favorite songs of my parents and really shows us why Kamal was known as the kadhal mannan ;) ( king of romance )
4.'Modhi Vilayadu' sung by Hariharan and Deva is popular for the very reason. It signifies the confluence of two very different legends who are kings of their own domains. While Deva is more popular for his 'gaana' or folk/ mass songs , Hariharan is the undisputed king of melodies. This song inspires and lifts up my mood every time i listen to it . And the fact that it is partly about cricket helps matters xD
5.'Runaway Heart' by Glenna is fiercely addictive and literally pulls your heart strings . It is my favorite track from the one tree hill album :'D The fact that a 20 second promo song can refuse to leave your heart and force you to track it down restores my faith in music. And for obvious reasons I visualize lucas and peyton everytime i listen this song. Why did they not end the show after the 6th season itself? :/
6. 'Parda' from once upon a time in mumbai is one of the few songs I gathered from MTV . Till then I didn't have much clue about Ajay Devgn ( apart from the fact that he was Kajol's husband) and I still don't :P Stylish song , remake of the retro times and Sunidhi Chauhan is really flawless xD Monicaaa oh my daarling!
7 .Last song. c'mon shuffle! 'Bleed it out' by linkin park is a wild wild song ^.^ I listened to the live concert version of this song and it brought about my 'live songs' craze - where I would download the live versions of tracks instead of the official ones , much to the dismay of my friends. 'Bleed it out' is the kind of song where you can scream your guts out along with the song and feel like a rockstar and of course go CRAZY!!
As usual my shuffle has brought about spectacular variety to a small span of seven songs. I really don't know about the end product but i swear making this post and reliving these songs has been FUN indeed :D
First of all , it feels GREAT to write in this draftboard again ^_^ ........and there was a mini break of 6 hours due to 2 ipl matches. This has been the story of my poor blog for a few months now. Board preparations , board itself (40 days *yawns*) and now ipl , clat preparations ( soon to be started :P ) and the overwhelming urges to read a book , go party or watch a movie. .....and there again. I got distracted by facebook and its insane amount of memes. Second of all, I would really thank all the readers who were patient for these few months and for increasing my page views even when there were no new posts :P I love you guys :* I shall dedicate my upcoming 50,000 views to you all. And now time to pen up. Forgive me if i'm a bit scratchy for this is my first post in months.
Board examinations are always a pain , that too especially if they extend over 40 days for 5 exams. So on April ninth, two thousand and thirteen when the cursed exams did get over , I felt that the world was my cricket ball ( because football is too mainstream) and decided to goto this 'comedy film' called settai. The thing which quirked me was the synopsis - The remake of the 'A' certified Delhi Belly which has been made into a 'clean' family entertainer and has managed to get a 'U' certificate. The director was also quiet proud when he said it. So BELIEVING him I took my whole family plus two people to the movie.
Two puked pop corns and countless crass jokes later I had to face my annoyed family sheepishly . Although my brother did love it! ( well , he starts laughing if you say S**t) My problem with the movie wasn't that it had innumerable unfunny yet disgusting 'jokes' or that it didn't have even a wafer thin plot but that it got an U certificate. What were the makers thinking when they thought they could remake this into a family friendly affair?
Oh god . In the pursuit of writing something , I am just becoming one of innumerable rant-about-my-life bloggers. So no more negative energy. Instead, I am going tell you about movies which are funny and have some story and 'acting' ( the only person who acted in this movie was the comedy super star) in it.
Why this move towards indigenous regional movies you might ask. Well the answer is :
a) I love them
b) If review raja is proud of my culture , it is time that I am .
c) Tamil cinema does have a flourishing heritage of comedy actors and films.
So here is my second 'trendistan' list. Tamil comedy movies which you shouldn't miss ( which are at least better investments of your time and money than settai)
3. Boss (a) Baskaran - Almost the exact cast as settai but 100000000 times funnier. For a change , Arya acted and Santhanam was at his epicest . The story is about Baskar aka boss , a good for nothing wastrel who still hasn't even passed his twelfth examinations and falls in love with his sister in law's sister - who is an english teacher! Boss is insulted by his whole family when he expresses his wish to marry her and is out there to prove a point. Watch him run a tutorial successfully and sort out the messes which occur after that. The movie was hilarious for only one reason: santhanam! He comes as Arya's barber friend who signs the collateral for the hero's loan. The movie has made some phrases like 'nanbenda' ( friend dude :P ) and 'vida muyarchi vishwaroopa vetri' (persistent hard work , monumental victory) popular. Don't miss one of the funniest films to have come out of the tamil industry in recent times.
2.Michael Madana kamarajan - Everyone knows kamal as an experimental actor who keeps pushing boundaries. Another thing everyone knows about him is that there is always some humor element in his films. So much so that , people have criticized his magnum opus 'dasavatharam' (where he plays 10 roles) for treating such heavy content too lightly. While his recent movies like 'Panchatantiram' 'pammal k sambandham' 'vasool raja MBBS' are more popular for being funny , his most hilarious film (according to me ) is mmkr. Released at a time when double action itself was difficult , he pulled off 4 roles with elan.
The story is about quadruplets who get separated at birth. One is raised by his father himself as an adopted son and is a stylish multimillionaire with a giant like bodyguard (bheem boy) and the catch phrase ' catch my point' He is Madan. Michael is brought up by a thief and is hired to kill madan. Next is Raju , who is our hilarious 'low class' firefighter who romances khushboo and becomes Madan's best friend. Finally we have our tam brahm - Kamu who is a cook , who marries 'thiruputasundari' and is roped in to impersonate madhan. The climax on the wooden house up the mountain is one of the best endings I've watched in my life/

1.Thillu Mullu - What can top a Kamal comedy film? A Rajini one of course! xD ( that too with a kamal cameo in the end!) This film directed by the great Balachander makes you laugh every time you watch it. It has been remade in hindi by the name 'Bol Bachchan' which has crossed 100 crores. Still people rightly argue that the original was 5486431 times better. Rajini plays the role of 'ayyampettai arivudainambi kaliyaperumal chandran' who is a rebel by nature but acts all innocent to woo his very conservative and patriotic boss ( acted stunningly be thengai srinivasan) Now what happens when chandran falls in love with his boss's daughter? He loses his mustache and becomes his twin brother Indran of course ;) Don't you miss this marathon of comic escapades , lies and situations .

Vadivelu in winner - ever heard of the word one man army? Vadivelu's role basically uplifted a common masala film into a super hit entertainer .

After a rather romantic surprise early last month stoopid semi went off to hibernate -_- It is perfectly alright to think so beCAUSEE ------------------------------- It is the truth :P However you should empathize or at least sympathize with her plight. She was working her socks off , for her first terms exams , which doesn't matter in anyway to the boards.
But her question is this. Why should the boards matter? Many of you may feel that that the answer is quite simple . Board exams = marks = good college = good job = good life. Too simple , too easy. Call me a non conformist or for that matter, a communist , For what difference does that actually make to you? But what I feel is this :
"Education is about learning for your intrinsic needs , which in the process satisfy your extrinsic ones "

What we study should actually interest and make sense to us and let us apply it in daily life. And it should satisfy our desire to understand what we are studying. C'mon guys , even the person who opens the book in the last minute would love to know what the page actually means , sure he ends up mugging and reciprocating it in the paper . But no one would shy away from the chance to run away from understanding something , when they have the choice. Would they?
And like spidey says We always have a choice!
And whatever we hereby learn should help us get marks. It should not be the other way round. I see my teachers teach and some of them are so obsessed about what questions they ask in boards , how your answers should match the answer key of the board examiners , how your handwriting should appeal to the board examiner etc etc etc.
Yes , presentation is good. But should all the learning i get be shaped so that it fetches me the maximum marks . I prefer not. Studying that way , will not allow me to read the para in the front and the back which may matter more in my comprehension of a passage than the para itself.
Hope you can make sense outta that senseless rant , which is done with an evergrowing hatred for examinations.
Now i feel selfish and rather sorry for ranting . However as my delete key is not co operating , I have decided to continue. But this time into more pleasant matters.
Whats been up off late? ICC WORLD T20 CUP ~ Yes , the ipl is more attractive and champions league is literally the clash of the titans yet nothing beats an intense Ind vs pak match or an Aus vs windies or Aus vs eng match (ashes much? ) We are in the super eight stages now and Group A consisting of Australia , India , Pakistan and South Africa seems very tight!

While India was trashed by Australia( by 9 wickets) - thanks to Watson . It inflicted a 8 wicket loss on pakistan xD It is a popular saying that the pak ppl lose to everyone but the indians . However , yesterday prove that the trend has reversed , pakistanis win with everyone ( including the all mighty S.Africans ) but Indians!! They lost the battle mentally , we could see by the way mohammed hafeez and shoaib malik got out!!
India put to rest all qualms about its team composition , which really didn't need have been so severely by the critics. Then again the media is news crazy and the people are cricket crazy. Dhoni proved that he is most comfortable with 7 batsmen 4 bowlers . And we really don't have the bowling resources to go all the way into the competition. Hope we spin ourselves to victory .

Jesss. After reading too many slow paced classics , its time to put on the safety belt and get ready for this roller coaster ride! Expect no literary richness or awesomely complex sentence formations , What you'll get is non stop action. BANG BANG BOOM.

The movies of the month!
While Barfi! has wowed everyone with its beauty and subtlety heroine has shocked and bored everyone with its sleaziness and predictable scandals . However as i haven't watched both the movies , I can't really comment upon them much. ( Then y did u even write abt it? :P Eye candy anyone?)
Looks like the tamil film Thandavam has interested everyone with its style and intelligence. Full marks to chiyaan vikram for pulling of another great performance! I will comment more elaborately on this film , when i finish watching it tomorrow!!
